The New Light in Town

Thank you for your interest in Congregation Or Chadash. Congregation Or Chadash is more than a synagogue; in a very real sense, we are a family. Newcomers consistently tell us that they feel very comfortable and welcome in the warm, spiritual environment created by our membership. There are many reasons why people join:  For some, it is a place to go to weekly services, while for others, it’s to celebrate High Holidays. Some families join to meet and get to know other Jewish families in Scottsdale, while others want to be involved in educational and programming activities. Or Chadash havurot cover various interest, activity and age groups and offer opportunities to make new friends and have fun. When we see families who were previously unaffiliated enjoying themselves as members of Congregation Or Chadash, we know that we are on the road to achieving the initial vision that a small group of families developed just a few short years ago.
 
Although that vision continues to evolve, at its root is still the idea that every individual will be encouraged to participate and to become an integral part of our community. Our dedication to creating a congregation that provides for the needs of its multi-generational membership fuels a commitment to innovative formal and informal education, meaningful social action including active support of the State of Israel, and inspirational Shabbat and Holiday observances. In building this new community, we actively seek to infuse the innovative ideas of modern Judaism, while sustaining the traditions that have been a part of us for so many years. As a group, we are dedicated to translating the lessons we learn at the synagogue into values that will strengthen the Jewish home and family.
